Water Heater Maintenance

Hard water is what wears out water heaters in North County. Minerals settle in the bottom of a tank and coat the heat exchanger in a tankless unit, which costs you gas and shortens the unit's life. A yearly service clears that out.

While we're there we check the parts that fail quietly: the anode rod that keeps a tank from rusting, the relief valve that keeps it safe, and the venting. Catching a worn part at a maintenance visit is far cheaper than a flooded garage.

We service every major brand, tank and tankless. If you already have a Navien, Rinnai or Rheem tankless unit, annual descaling is the most important thing you can do for it.

What's included

• Tank flush to clear sediment from the bottom of the tank
• Tankless descaling, with the heat exchanger flushed using a descaling solution
• Inlet filter screen cleaning on tankless units
• Anode rod inspection, and replacement when it is worn through
• Temperature and pressure relief valve test
• Burner, venting and gas connection check, with a written note on anything that needs attention

What it costs

A tank flush or tankless descaling service typically runs $150–$250. An anode rod replacement, if yours is worn out, is quoted before we do it. Nothing is added without your OK.
